Type Of Memory Description
DRAM (Dynamic RAM) Memory that must be refreshed.
SRAM (Static RAM) Does not require refresh. Used for cache memory.
SDRAM (Synchronous Dynamic RAM) Synced with the CPU clock.
DDR (Double Data Rate) SDRAM Data read on rising and falling edge of computer clock to double the bandwidth of SDRAM. 184-pin, 64-bit DIMM.
DDR2 Similar to DDR but 240-pin, 64-bit DIMM. Faster than DDR.
Single Ranked DDR Uses one DDR module in a single slot.
Double Ranked DDR Uses two DDR modules in two slots to double bandwidth to the system bus.


Form Factor Description
DIMM (Dual Inline Memory Module) 1689, 184, or 240-pins. Pins on both sides are independent. SDRAM uses DIMM. 64-bits.
SoDIMM (Small outline DIMM) Used in notebook computers. 72-pin is 32- bits and 144-pins is 64-bits
MicroDIMM Smaller than a SoDIMM, used in sub-notebook computers. 144-oins SDRAM and 172-pin DDR
RIMM (Rambus Inline Memory Module) 184 or 168-pin, 16 or 32bit, 800-1600 MHz, 2 notches. Each RIMM slot must be filled. C-RIMM can empty slots. Uses heat spreader. Current DDR and DDR2 is faster and less expensive.

Processors and Cooling

The external data bus must be matched to the motherboard. Data (like 64 bits) go through
the control unit that splits the the bits between to arithmic 50/50. Looking at task manger you can see both ALU. Register holds all of the working mathmatics working. Cache no matter what size its a calculated memory( L1 ,L2). L3 Cache was stored on the motherboard in the old days now its usually stored on the di. A T C cache is faster. Core speed is where the data in the processor is being done and the speed of it. Data path is the bit width. voltage module regulator helps you keep the processors play nice. Two processors mean that the computer is smarter then before. Dual core is a samething as a multiprocessing but with one di. Over clocking heats the computer to where its hot and might ruin the processor. No fan on the heat sink is a passive, Fan on the heat sink is more common to see and active (liquid or fans). Hyper threading is two ALU is the operating at once in parrallel together. Throttling can have the processor run cooler by throttling down.
The multiplier improves the processors preformits but risk the stubility.
